The Washington Herald put a chess section on its newspaper column. The chess editor was W.H. Mutchler.

As included in the report by Herman Helms, there was criticism to Capablanca, Alekhine and Rubinstein for playing too "uncharacteristic chess games" in London 1922. But then this game where Capa meet Canadian representative able to raise interest of chess fans. The article in chess column give a lengthy discussion. The opening is later to be called Torre Attack ECO D46, but unknown to that time of course.
